NZ Alpine & Agriculture Encounter

The purpose-built Encounter brings to life the stories of the mountains, plains and the people who live there, through a modern, multi-media/interactive approach.

Experience being in a combine harvester, operate a digger, explore an snow-cave or check out a heritage ski film in the theatrette. Hear the stories of alpine rescue workers, snow makers and ski patrollers or learn about mid-Canterbury’s seed growing and dairying and spin some merino wool.

METHVEN HERITAGE CENTRE

The New Zealand Alpine & Agriculture centre is located within the Methven Heritage Centre, a modern, purpose built facility which is also home to the Methven Art Gallery, conference and event facilities, Heritage Café, and the Methven i-SITE Visitor Centre.

Located in central Methven, this is a great place to visit on your travels.

Conference & Events

The Heritage Centre offers a range of meeting and conference spaces. Our Board room is perfectly suited for your executive meeting or for a small group get together or training. The larger Function room seats up to 90 seminar style. With views of the mountains and bi-fold doors to a terrace and lawn it is a great all day venue and also a fantastic space for evening drinks.

The Mt Hutt Memorial Hall seats 400 plus for a theatre style event and provides a unique venue for a large conference or presentation. The gallery and foyer spaces surrounding the hall provide space for displays and expo stands or a bar for your evening function. With the Function and Board room for break out spaces, the whole venue is a great space for a larger conference. You can also incorporate a visit to our Encounter to add the ‘wow factor’ to your event.

Methven Art Gallery

The Methven Art Gallery features a changing exhibition every month. Our artists are renowned local artists and all pieces are available for sale. Entrance to our gallery is free of charge.
